An electronic upper gastrointestinal endoscopy developed by the Suzhou branch of Olympus, a globally leading medical technology multinational focusing on optical technology, received the approval for market launch recently, becoming Olympus’ first locally manufactured medical device in China.

The global market share of Olympus’ gastrointestinal endoscopy devices has exceeded 70%. The Suzhou branch, located in SIP, was the company’s first medical device R&D and manufacturing base in China, with a total front-end investment of about US$ 60 million.

The Suzhou branch received great support from the local authorities, especially the SIP Market Supervision Bureau, which has offered it the exact help it needs to localize the manufacturing of the product.
