“The Watchman: Ruins by Yang Chongguang” exhibition opened at Ui ART Center, SIP on Mar 27, and will last till June 21. The exhibition systematically traces the creative trajectory of Yang Chongguang, a Chinese artist known for his ruins-inspired art.

The exhibition, co-curated by the Ui ART Center and curator Hao Qingsong, brings together 39 representative works created by Yang over the past decade, including several large-scale pieces. Unlike conventional exhibitions, this one features dynamic rotations of exhibits to highlight a unique temporal dimension and a rhythm of vitality.

At the opening ceremony, Yang presented an impromptu artistic creation, using discarded materials such as old canvas, waste paper and paint as his medium to complete an artwork on site.

The artist also gave a lecture on site, leading the audiences into a collective artistic exploration of “identity” through physical expression, material application, and improvisational responses.
