A new exhibition opened at Suzhou Eslite Bookstore on Jan 24, showcasing paper-cut artist Chen Fenwan’s recent small-sized paper-cut collages and installations. It leads visitors to explore fresh expressions of China’s traditional paper-cutting craft through contemporary thinking and techniques.

A graduate from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Chen has engaged in paper-cut creation for a long time, well-known for her shift from traditional flat cutting to multiple spatial and narrative dimensions. By blending Eastern paper-cutting with modern visual language, she has developed a distinct style and collaborated with global brands such as Apple, LEGO, Coca-Cola and Bosideng.

Highlighting the creative process—from drafting and coloring to folding, cutting, unfolding and assembling—the exhibition reveals both an artistic journey and the artist’s personal growth.

The exhibition will last till Apr 6.
